Scouts BSA Troop 1865 Kenosha
VFW Post 1865 and Troop 1865B are very excited to welcome Troop 1865G. The all girl troop was chartered in March and we wish them much success in their quest for Eagle! If you know any young ladies age 11-17 who may be interested in the programs Scouts BSA has to offer, please have them contact us.
We were informed mid last week that a new troop was formed in the Red Arrow District utilizing the 570 unit designation. As we are technically unit 1570, we have decided to officially change our troop number to eliminate any confusion. We have chosen to utilize the VFW Post 1865 number and officially updated our number with unanimous support of the VFW to Troop 1865. We also felt as we now have scouts from 1570, 525, 512, and pack 750 this was a great opportunity to make a new beginning and continue building great memories. Thank you to everyone and spread the word! We are Troop 1865! Congratulations!
The scouts will be having a virtual game night Dec. 18th into the morning of the 19th. Check Mrs. Knick’s email for more details and a sign up link.
Scouts will be spending the weekend camping at Oh-Da-Ko-Ta Nov 13-15th and building wilderness survival shelters. Don’t forget to sign up!
We will be scaring at Oh Da Ko Ta the weekend of October 16-19. Our theme is going to be a creepy wax museum. We will be in the chapel but the walk will go around the outside.
Everyone will have to bring their own costumes, we’re also thinking about doing covered mannequins or other figures to be inanimate objects whilst we move. The ever growing list of props includes any mannequins/ figures people have, likely 2 flood lights, extension cords, audio clips and speakers for the audio.
Troop 570 will be hiking at Devil’s Lake State Park near Baraboo, WI on Sunday October 11th. Meet at Mrs. Knick’s house by 7 a.m. to carpool. Food can be purchased, but everyone should pack a lunch and eat breakfast before you leave. If you are working on cooking merit badge you need to talk to the rest of the group going and work on making a meal plan instead of bag lunches. There is also a gift shop there, so if you do want anything bring money.
Join us for our pancake breakfast on December 1, 2019 from 8-12 at the VFW. All you can eat pancakes with 2 sausages and a drink. $8 for 11 and older, $5 for 5-10 year olds and under 5 are FREE!
Sign up for the Haunted Hayride/Scare Weekend Oct. 18th – 20th. Oh-Da-Ko-Ta will provide dinner Friday and Saturday night, the troop will be cooking breakfasts and lunches. Please sign up by 9/9 as we need to let the program director know how many are attending so we can be assigned the appropriate camping site and scare area.
Troop 570 will be attending the Devil’s Lake Hike & Camping, Oct 4th – 6th. Please sign up by Sept 9th. Cost is $22 per person plus the cost of meals which the troop will prepare.
We will be having a Court of Honor and dinner on June 3rd at 6 pm. Mission BBQ will be providing the food for the evening. Please make plans to attend.
